Cesc Fabregas

Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino has claimed that Cesc Fabregas’ future is in his hands, and any possible transfer depends on him.

Martino had previously said that he will reject any offers for Cesc after Barca had already rejected 2 and many believed his words had put an end to United’s chase for the midfielder.

But it emerged this week that United were preparing a 3rd bid for the striker and speaking after Barcelona’s hammering 8-0 hammering of Santos, Martino didn’t quite sound as certain about Fabregas and his future:

“I’ve talked to Cesc & of course we want him to stay, he’s one of the best in the squad, so it’s up to him.”

There was further uncertainty about the midfielder’s future when Martino was asked who he would sign as a potential replacement for the midfielder if he did leave:

“Sign another player if Cesc leaves? If it depends on me, he’ll stay, and I believe he will, so I didn’t yet think about that.”

From sounding so certain before to his words tonight, it does lead you to believe that something may be afoot but this then begs the question what about United’s move for Ronaldo? It’s unlikely or even impossible that United will sign both, some had even claimed that the move for Cesc was a smokescreen for United’s move for Ronaldo, so where does it leave us in that respect?

I’m getting sick of this transfer stuff *huff*
