Will united allow Rooney to head to Chelsea?

It is being reported that Manchester United are in fact willing to sell Wayne Rooney to rivals Chelsea, but only in the event of them getting a replacement in first.

Manchester United have stood firm in the face of 2 bids from the London club, keen to not to repeat the mistake of Arsenal last season who sold Robin Van Persie to United and had to sit back and watch the Dutch man fire his new club to the title.

But with reports that Chelsea are preparing a new bid for the striker, said to be in the region of £28m, news that United may be willing to do business will provide encouragement.

The Daily Mirror believe that David Moyes’ frustrating ventures into the transfer market this summer have proved the main obstacle in any potential move for the striker, and had he been able to get one of his various targets in Rooney may have been allowed to leave.

But with no new faces through the door, letting Rooney go now would be suicidal.

David Maddock said:

“Moyes though, knows he can’t allow one of his biggest stars to leave before he has a marquee signing lined up to appease the fans and offer a serious declaration of intent.”

Maddock’s report directly contradicts the claims of The Guardian‘s Daniel Taylor who claimed just over a week ago that United wouldn’t sell the striker to Chelsea at any price as a show of defiance, as well as to send a message not only to Jose Mourinho but the rest of the league.

It is hard to believe that United would consider allowing Rooney to head to West London, especially after staunchly stating that Rooney isn’t for sale.

Pictures today of Rooney at a team bonding meal seemed to confirm reports that the striker had accepted that he would not be allowed to leave and reports claimed that he appeared happy and smiling, so for United to now suddenly change their stance is somewhat bizarre.

As I united fan I think we need to let him go and here is why a unhappy player can cause distractions and also them Moyes comments and as for Moyes signing anyone it’s only going to be his former Everton trash that we do not need why he took his time with Thiago and Strootsman I think because he only wants Fellani and Baines and none of those two are united quality what we need to do is play our young guys before they leave look at the Pogba situation

Here is a reality check guys, Rooney will be sold to Chelsea, amount unknown. The Glazers will pocket the money. Moyes will get exactly non of the funds to spend, which he can add to the funds that he currently has……. NONE. We have been going for targets that were never realistic no matter the bids, targets where our bids were so low that we were never in the hunt and were embarrassing to the club. All served to come out of the other end of the transfer window having spent exactly what the Glasers wanted…… NOTHING!!!!! Well….. Great work Woodward you have achieved your goal and will probably get a nice fat pay rise off the end of it. TRAITOR!!!!!!!!

This is one of Mourinho’s mind game again towards the upcoming clash between Manutd and Chelsea to demoralize, unsettle Rooney and the entire manu team at large. Otherwise why couldnt he keep his plan to himself!!? Crazy Mourinho!!

  4. Uchechukwu Ekobay says:

My candid advice is if rooney is happy let him stay,if not let him leave to where ever he wants instead of distracting the team,as for landing a new player that’s a mirage, moyes want nothing but fellani and baines and glazers are just marking time with moyes probably till 31st aug to make a swoop.until then
