Will united allow Rooney to head to Chelsea?

It is being reported that Manchester United are in fact willing to sell Wayne Rooney to rivals Chelsea, but only in the event of them getting a replacement in first.

Manchester United have stood firm in the face of 2 bids from the London club, keen to not to repeat the mistake of Arsenal last season who sold Robin Van Persie to United and had to sit back and watch the Dutch man fire his new club to the title.

But with reports that Chelsea are preparing a new bid for the striker, said to be in the region of £28m, news that United may be willing to do business will provide encouragement.

The Daily Mirror believe that David Moyes’ frustrating ventures into the transfer market this summer have proved the main obstacle in any potential move for the striker, and had he been able to get one of his various targets in Rooney may have been allowed to leave.

But with no new faces through the door, letting Rooney go now would be suicidal.

David Maddock said:

“Moyes though, knows he can’t allow one of his biggest stars to leave before he has a marquee signing lined up to appease the fans and offer a serious declaration of intent.”

Maddock’s report directly contradicts the claims of The Guardian‘s Daniel Taylor who claimed just over a week ago that United wouldn’t sell the striker to Chelsea at any price as a show of defiance, as well as to send a message not only to Jose Mourinho but the rest of the league.

It is hard to believe that United would consider allowing Rooney to head to West London, especially after staunchly stating that Rooney isn’t for sale.

Pictures today of Rooney at a team bonding meal seemed to confirm reports that the striker had accepted that he would not be allowed to leave and reports claimed that he appeared happy and smiling, so for United to now suddenly change their stance is somewhat bizarre.

van is a good striker but we can’t rely on him every time,he went for ten games without scoring so pls don’t sell Rooney.

I am a chelsea fan as far I am concerned rooney should be allowed to leave because It doesn’t make sense to keep an unhappy player in the squad united are paying him 200,000k salary if he stays and if Is not able to perform what’s the point in that

Christ how many illiterate man utd fans are there out there?? Look at the utd squad you lot have? How many players do you have that would improve chelsea? 2 at the most, van persie and Rooney, you lot need a mata or Oscar or hazard more than we need Rooney. Utd are history under moyes, he can’t attract the big players you need so you’ll end up with the crap he gets from Everton and that’s if they wanna leave.

In case of moyes he is not able to bring even the players which he has worked with for so many years before joining united like baines and fellani

Utd won’t buy anyone , glazers just good for getting money into the pocket *nd not investing in world class players, utd won’t compete in europe or win title this year.if rvp fails utd are doomed. Should of bout players in long time ago not last min. Moyes wasting time on his everton players . Come end of transfer window moyes will say targets was not easy to get in, what a load of bull…. If players had business names at the back of there shirts , utd will have best players even better than barcelona .that’s’s All utd good for in the future .

Blame fergie for the rooney situation . He should of not left moyes with that problem. Last season he should of not play kawaga and leave rooney on bench . Even giggs starts before ronney on sunday . I think all utd fans know if roo goes to chelsea he will win league. He will be totally diff player under jo at chelsea

Alex was a legend very few manager who managed the club like he did
    now things are changed
I think moyes and arsene wenger are brothers when it comes to transfer window first they tell their clubs fans that there is going to be big signings and when transfer window is over they end up playing with the same squad
