United set to miss out on Ander Herrera

Manchester United’s reported swoop for Daniele De Rossi, Marouane Fellaini and Anders Herrera is reported set to fail with United encountering a number of obstacles.

It was reported that United were looking to bring the trio to Old Trafford this weekend ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline. Having made approaches for all 3 players and being knocked back, United were set to to improve their offers, rounding off a transfer window that hasn’t gone their way.

But as has been the pattern so far, United’s are facing disappointment.

In Spain, United’s pursuit of Ander Herrera is looking likely to end in disappointment after the midfielder travelled with the Basque side to face Real Madrid. Sky’s Spanish football expert Guillem Ballague took to Twitter to say of the transfer:

In terms of United’s pursuit of De Rossi, that too looks like it won’t be happening with Roma manager Rudi Garcia dismissing United’s attempts to sign his player.

De Rossi was said to be ready to leave Roma this summer, having been at the club since 2000, but Garcia is said to be part of the reason why he changed his mind and the French coach spoke on his player, confirming he would remain at the club:

“Daniele de Rossi isn’t only a big player, but he’s also a big man. He has been here at Roma for a long time and he wants to play with this jersey.

“We spoke when he came back from his holidays and we said that, if it got past a certain date, he would certainly remain with us.

‘He will stay here for the whole season and this is something that satisfies me a lot.”

That leaves just Fellaini. United remain hopeful that a deal can be agreed with Everton for the £25m rated player before Monday and with the player keen to reunite with his former manager at Old Trafford, it appears that United may only sign one of their 3 targets.

Moyes and Deadwood just telling us fans what we want to hear, reality is that all the money going to the Glasers and Rooney’s new contract.

  4. Pete says:

@ chris ” you can’t say the glazers haven’t made money available “. You are naive if you think that is the case what happened to the ronaldo money??? It wasn’t reinvested in the team like spurs are doing with the bale money. Fergie managed to maintain the side performing to a higher level than the investment deserves but look at bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid etc. we are light years behind them. If you stand still in football you go backwards and that is what is happening whilst the glazers service their debt they raised against the club. Blame ed Woodward by all means but the investment hasn’t been there for 6 years while big money has been spent by many of our rivals. Fergies fault? Moyes? Woodward? Gill? No the buck stops with the glazers. If we were serious about buying de Rossi and Herrera we wouldn’t be pissing around with 3 days of the window left we would have done our business by now like the serious buyers city, Chelsea and spurs have.

Anyone who thought united would buy any player other than maybe fellaini must be silly, if fellaini comes in tomorrow no one would complain but if moyes bought him earlier everyone would been asking questions I mean you don’t get the united job and the first signing is fellaini unless you played it like united have all summer going for unrealistic signings especially the fab one that was just a big smokescreen

  6. Lubem says:

the truth is that the Glazers are just using tricks in order not to buy players, Strootman went to Roma at 15m, now Man utd wanted the scraps- De Rossi. Christian Eriksen wanted coming to Man utd…that kind of player was not even considered. The Glazers are just trying to decieve us that they wan to buy players but in reality they dont

If United is not gonna sign any player, thn fine! It’s Moyes and the players that are gettin paid, we are not gettin paid; it will only hurt our hearts when United doesn’t win any trophy but they’ll be hurt the most.
