David Moyes has said that he may bring in a face or two this January if the right player comes along, and it appears he has found his man in Atletico Madrid’s Koke.
The 21 year old has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this week, with papers claiming United are ready to activate his £16m release clause.
A target of Barcelona, Koke has been dubbed the new Xavi. Although he has nowhere near the same ability to manipulate a game the way Xavi does, the name stems from his creative output as he creates (and scores) goals in abundance.
Barcelona are thought to have first option on a number of Atletico’s stars including Oliver Torres, the by product of the deal that saw David Villa join the Madrid club for a mere £4m this summer so United will face a fight if the Catalan club’s interest in the player is confirmed.
But if not, United may well snap up the player that has helped turned the title race in Spain into a 3 horse race, propelling Atletico Madrid into the usual battle between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
