Manchester United may be forced to step up their efforts for Atletico Madrid’s Koke, after Italian club AC Milan apparently made an offer for the 21 year old.

United’s interest in the Spaniard has been well publicised, with reports that the club are willing to meet his buyout clause to secure his services.

It was believed that United’s main competition for Koke’s signature would come from Liverpool and Barcelona, but according to Mundo Deportivo AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has jumped to the front of the queue.

AC Milan have reportedly offered Koke €4m a season after tax in an effort to snap up the youngster, but if United’s interest is concrete United would be able to go higher.

Having rejected the chance to make Ander Herrera the club’s most expensive player, it is Koke’s €38m price tag, rather than wages, that could prove the problem.
