David Moyes

David Moyes has given an update on Wayne Rooney’s contract situation, after the striker’s improved performances this term.

Rooney has impressed this term and in the last few games has shone in a deeper role. Leading the league in assists, his partnership with Danny Welbeck in the last few games have served the young striker well scoring 3 times in his last 2 league games.

With RVP’s injury enforced absences this term, Rooney’s importance to the team has grown and he hasn’t shirked from the responsibility and Moyes is keen to keep the 28 year old at Old Trafford beyond next summer when his contract expires.

Speaking at his pre game presser ahead of Thursday’s trip to Hull, Moyes revealed:

“The club and Wayne’s people are speaking regular. As far as I know it is just the same as it was.”

The fact that there is regular communication between both parties bodes well for United as they look to tie down the striker to a long term deal.
