When news broke yesterday that The Red Knights would be abandoning their bid to take over the club, the news was met with dismay by many fans.

Many feel that this is the end of the Green & Gold movement (despite the fact that 45% of the consortium still wanting to push on with a bid) as the Glazer family have cemented their position that they won’t sell the club.

It was never going to be easy to get the Glazers to sell up and unfortunately it looks like the Red Knights despite all the pressure they and MUST applied have failed for now. It appears that their bid may have been too reliant on public participation ie non renewal of season tickets and playing off media reports on how badly the Glazers were running the club. To be fair it seemed to work but again any bid was always dependent on the Glazers playing ball and they didn’t.

Although many United fans aren’t happy that the bid has failed, looking through forums and the web in general the response I have seen from some is peculiar to say the least. Many fans have taken the stance of ‘I told you the bid would fail’, whilst others seem to have lost interest and given up on the Green & Gold movement and are ready to accept the Glazers which right now isn’t what we need.

Of course this is a minority but at this current moment in time, we need to be more United than ever as it’s times like this that in remaining firm and showing the Glazers that despite their insistence that they won’t sell we still are not happy and we will still protest. Despite the fact the Red Knights won’t press forward with a bid we are still unhappy and will still protest.

Very rarely do things of these nature pass without problems and obstacles and what would we be if we gave up at the first one that has appeared? I’m not trying preach, these are just my 2 cents on the situation. Some will disagree and say it’s time to be realistic but I think I am, there is still plenty of life left in the movement as long as we the fans remain positive.

The problem was and still is – the case against the Glazers has not been proved. Yes the club is heavily indebted – unreasonably so by most standards. However, so far anyway, the Glazers have managed it ok. Beware the debt is the clarion call but many are not really convinced. What has to be articulated is exactly how this could work out or not as the case may be. What if net revenues do not continue increasing by at least 10% pa over the next few years ? What if success on the pitch does not continue ? What happens if Fergie’s succession is handled badly and we have plenty of examples of that in our history ? The picture has to be painted very clearly and the fans have to respond demonstrably and effectively. Yes, it would mean staways and a refusal to buy merchandise and yes it could eb very painful but sacrifices will have to be made to get rid of the Glazers. A sort of scorched earth policy has to be adopted after which the ground will be better prepared for an RK bid

Give it up ffs, you lost, your boys ran off scared, you couldnt afford utd anyways. Now try getting back to supporting the club like the rest of us real fans no matter who is in charge.

  3. as says:

secondly the last people us real fans want in charge are those skint money grabbing knights and attention seeking must twerps, we want a real businessman with real money and if he aint out there then so be it, glazers it is. Thd g and g was a joke, the protest was an unsuccessful minority, the majority to us back united all the way…any boycotters wouldnt be welcomed back and nor should they, back utd or get lost.

@AS I completely disagree with you. Real fans support the club and because we do, we don’t want Glazer in charge.
He has saddled the club with massive debt and as a ‘Real’ fan you should see how dangerous this could become for the club.
Get off your bloddy high horse with that ‘real’ fan nonsense.

chud. i see the damage in debt and i understand why some ard worried but we do make alot in return to, we can handle the prob and i do believe malcolm has an ace up his sleeve to whip it out in due course, however i also like an new owner who has alot of cash to investt to keep us top- i just dont want those skintknights and rather keep the devils i know till then.

Totally understood mate but I think if they had an ace up their sleeve they would have revealed it by now.
The intrest on the debt has increased and despite the claims that Sir Alex had all 80 million from the Ronaldo sale to spend it is being reported that 40 million was used to refinance the debt.
I think the club has been terribly mismanaged, thats not to say we should just throw the club into the hands of the next person that sniffs around the place but at the same time I’m itching to get the club away from these people.
