A worrying trend has begun to rear it’s head amongst United fans again, with people blaming Dimitar Berbatov or singling him out criticism when the team on a whole doesn’t play well.

On Saturday there were a number of players who played worse than the Bulgarian but he seemed to be an easy target so I’ve decided to join the bandwagon. Rumour has it, Berbatov was at fault for a number of catastrophes throughout history and we have obtained photographic evidence catching him in the act of one of his heinous crimes, yes it was in fact Berbatov that started the great fire of London!

Obviously no player is beyond criticism but at least be fair and constructive with it rather than over the top and unnecessarily harsh!

Nobody is blaming berbatov soley for saturday but he was sh*t simple as that and deserves criticism for his performance! He is too inconsistent and hasn’t been able to find any consistency in 2 years.Genius when he’s on his game but that’s happening too rarely to be a man utd player”

Nail hit directly on head Dave. And the Hulk is is not just overated, hes not actually that good. Would you want John Carew? Same player.

guys i am fan of arsenal but i watch utd’s games because of Berba and i can tell you two things!!!

first, for the last one year united has NO MIDFIELD, no playmaking, no passes no fast attacking football based on combinations. At some point of the game Berba tries to go back take the ball (PASS IT CORRECTLY!!!) and make a one-two with some one (similar gamestyle to arsenal’s one) BUT then Nani never passes back to him… and here comes the second problem

Utd has the most selfish, never-passing the ball players!!! Nani just receives passes and then shoots. berba stays unmarked in the penalty area and noone passes the ball to him. for some reason the pathetic midfielders believe that they should be the ones finnishing the attacks. In this team noone passes the ball to Berbatov!!! To berba and Rooney and only a few more players, it’s the team that comes first, but the rest care only to be “the best players in the world”

i so badly wanted to see berba replacing henry as arsenal’s striker… but no utd is destrying him 🙁

Why are you spastic twats keep forgeting that Chicarito played in this game?He is the type of player you wanted(Rooney) getting stuck in it.So?WHat did he do? He made at least 2 good runs and received erm… 0 passes. But let’s all ignore that, because we do not understand the football game and it is easier to blame one person.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I think our midfield needs to provide better service and is not always cohesive. BUT, Berba can be lazy some days. Against Villa, one of our players whipped in a perfectly good ball in front of goal, but the only player who felt it was worth running for was a Villa defender.
I don’t think it’s worth giving up on Berba yet. Though he’s going through a dry spell, I’d say there’s only a couple of those games were ones where he didn’t play well. As recent as our game against City he put everything into his performance.

I’m beginning to join the camp that United need to look for outside help to improve our midfield. I used to be worried that signing a player would be at the expense of our young talent coming though, but between a couple players on the verge of retirement and other regulars not playing consistently I don’t think our youth are the ones to be worried about losing out.

Didnt forget Chicarito, he is in his first season so he gets more chances. He is learning his game so he needs time and patience, and he will be a great player, berb is 30 million and had more chances than Gazza has had rehab.

Berba is a talented player but his attitude is poor…. The team played alot better when Macheda joined the attack… Even Chicharito played better when Berba is off (and Macheda is in).. Am very looking forward to Rooney’s return…

Right. To sum it up.If you don’t give away possesion(Carrick, Fletch + Park). If you do not shoot from everywhere(Nani + Park). If you excel in your game considerably every season unlike ( Nani, Anderson, Carrick, Park, Fletcher, Brown, O’Shea). If you preffer to pass it to the player who is in a better position to score a goal.If you are not selfish and you constantly try to help the team.If you don’t whine when you are rotated. And if you are worth 30 mil. (mind you – not your fault).Than you are flop.
You are amazing mate.Berbatov had chances? In which game?Against Villa? One?!?!??!? Rooney was receiving around 15 chances last year a game?!?!.And he is worth a lot more than Berbatov?!Do you even watch the games?

WE NEED CARLOS QUIEROZ BACK!! AND TO HAVE FAITH IN OUR YOUNGSTERS YOU GOONS!! NOT TO BLAME ANYONE ELSE AND KEEP THE FAITH. LET FERGIE DECIDE ON WHAT TO DO WITH HIS PLAYERS.

Have been against Berbatov ever since he joined…looked good in the Spurs team but at the time that wasn’t difficult. Look at them now, would they seriously ever consider having him back?

Fergie has his favourites and Berba is one of them, mainly because he spent £30m on him and he’s trying to prove his point as he’s so stubborn. It’s weird though that over the years other players havent had the same amount of chances. Veron for instance was in and out very quickly and he was another player who cost £30m and who everyone could see had a serious amount of talent.

Now I’ve had this conversation with friends many times. Berbatov is a good player, he makes certain things look easy but that doesn’t mean he’s good for United. I’m not interested how good a player’s touch is or how many keepy uppies they can do. I want a striker who scores goals, who get’s into the right positions, who doesn’t slow the play down at every opportunity. A striker who’s actually in the box when we have a corner! Ideally I want another Van Nistelrooy or a Shearer. Someone who could walk into the Chelsea, Arsenal or Real Madrid team. Is that not what all Man United fans should want?

To sum up, he’s not to blame for our bad start to the season but he’s not good enough for United. The same goes for Carrick. At the end of the day we need players who could walk into the top clubs but if you look at our squad at the moment there aren’t many that would.

One bad game this season and you haters say he needs to go?! Get a grip! I bet you won’t be saying that when he picks himself up again this season. Some people have some really short memories.

If u think hes had one bad game then ur delusioned. Yes he’s been great improved this year, but he’s still inconsistent at best
